Some Gratuitous Food Porn

These photos have been on my camera for an unjustifiable one year, and come from a lunch I had last Summer at L’Atelier De Jean-Luc Rabanel, a two michelin starred restaurant in Arles. The restaurant focuses on fresh, seasonal, organic vegetables grown in and around Arles. The main reason for the time discrepancy is that I don’t quite know what any of the dishes were. Our waiter insisted on giving fairly bland descriptions (“vegetable tart”, “ice cream”) in English despite it quickly being transparent that my limited French was still better than his English. It was however a lovely lunch, and  at €100 for seven courses with wine pairings, very reasonable by Michelin standards (in the UK at least). The interior of the restaurant features a rather slick modern Japanese style decor, but the best thing is to be on one of the five or six tables on the street outside, a narrow sun drenched alleyway off the main shopping street.

Rice crispies with garlic ice cream (yes, that was the description)
